Charitable Giving Benefits for 2022 |
A Tax-Wise Way to Give
|
Charitable contributions are one of the best tax-saving opportunities available. Not only does the charity benefit, but taxpayers also enjoy tax savings by deducting part or all of their contributions on their tax returns.
For 2022, rules return to the usual requirements that taxpayers can only deduct charitable contributions if they itemize their tax deductions on Schedule A. In addition, taxpayers can only claim charitable contribution deductions for cash contributions to public charities and operating foundations up to 60% of their adjusted gross income (AGI). The two special tax rules that allowed taxpayers to deduct a certain level of cash contributions even if they didn’t itemize 2021 income taxes—and claim deductions of sums up to 100% of their AGI—have expired and were not renewed by Congress. As always, please consult your legal counsel, tax professional, or financial planner before making any major financial decisions. |
If you are 72 or older, you can join your fellow Nature Foundation supporters who make tax-free gifts of up to $100,000 from their traditional IRAs.
Benefits of IRA-Qualified Charitable Distributions:
These types of gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction. Before making a distribution from your IRA, it's always important to consult your advisor beforehand. |
Legacy donors are truly special. When you become a legacy donor, you have the power to sustain and enhance a wide variety of programs, all of which protect nature, inspire discovery, and bring people and nature together!
Please contact us today to talk more about a planned gift that aligns with your personal values, planning needs and charitable aspirations. We would be honored to partner with you on this journey. If you make your gift prior to December 31, 2022, you will be recognized as a Founding Member of the Nature Foundation's Legacy Society.
